Welcome / ContactAdmissions CounselingSAT PrepAbout Us

January 2012

Having gratefully put down my ‘life-in-a-suitcase’, I open my apartment blinds to a view of Claremont Avenue on the Upper West side of Manhattan. At this moment, it finally sinks in: I am officially a student of The School of General Studies at Columbia University in the City of New York – I am grinning with elation.

As a British Citizen, applying to an Ivy League University was always to be an uphill battle. The SATs, the Common Application and the dreaded US Visa Application were but the tip of the iceberg; the process is arduous and overwhelming at best (and I only applied for the one University!).

Easily the greatest decision I made before commencing the process, was soliciting the advice and teaching of the Multedos. Fernando and Molly make an exceptional partnership. Their individual skillsets harmoniously contributed to every facet of my university application. Fernando’s pragmatic approach and sound mathematics coaching ensured a concise, well-structured application supported by solid SAT scores. Molly’s rigor in language coaching and financial research provided the foundations to achieve a Critical Reading score of 740 and an institutional scholarship worth in excess of $50,000.

Few would believe that I have yet to meet my mentors face to face! Our lessons, all conducted via Skype, were always geared to my convenience; be it early Saturday mornings or 10pm Monday evening. Fernando and Molly accommodated my extraordinarily unpredictable diary and were almost always immediately available for brief queries and advisory support. They provided direction and drive when it was most needed, never allowing focus to waiver from the final aim.

American Prep Group comes with my very highest recommendation. I have already and will continue to refer other internationally aspiring students to the services of American Prep Group. They instilled in me a confidence and desire to achieve a once seemingly unlikely goal.

I have true friends in Molly and Fernando and can never thank them enough for their efforts and application to my success. I look forward to toasting to our success as Columbia Alumni in 4 years’ time!

Never before have I heard of or seen a tutor who can inspire and motivate an individual as I have seen Fernando motivate my son, Michael.

When, not if, Michael gains a place at Columbia, it will be thanks to the skill and pleasant manner in which Fernando has coached Michael, and set him up for the rest of his life.

In August 2009, I met Molly Multedo through American Prep Group, and started my preparation for the GMAT and my graduate school applications, competing for a spot in an MBA program in Europe.  I took English classes with Molly and mathematics classes with Fernando Multedo.  Both Molly and Fernando were critical to my success, not only for the instruction they provided during lessons, but for the motivation and confidence both instilled in me.

After three months of classes in person, in Rio de Janeiro, I moved to Belgium. Despite the distance, I continued to study English with Molly, via video-conference on Skype.

In April 2010, I was admitted with a scholarship to the MBA program at Solvey Brussels School of Economics and Management, in Brussels, Belgium.
I was very happy with my conquest, and thank American Prep Group, especially Molly Multedo, for all the help and confidence bestowed upon me.

Molly and Fernando,

Thank you for all of the attention you dedicated to Camila. You provided her with so much more than SAT instruction,  lessons in character that I am certain she will carry with her throughout her life.

Dear Dr. Fernando Multedo,

I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for me. It is one thing to say that you have helped me. It is quite another to tell  you of the impact of your aid to me. You know the academic rigor of a university such as MIT. I have seen many here suffer under the strain of the demands placed upon us by the Institute. It is with great pleasure that I report to you that I am excelling in this academic environment. You have prepared me well. The Academy has provided me with the necessary foundation and discipline  to excel in the academic world.

On behalf of myself and my fellow classmates, I want to thank you for all that you and the Academy have done for us and wish you and your family the very best in years to come.

Hello Dr. Multedo,

My family and I wanted to thank you for all that you and your wife were able to offer me during my time at NMA. Without it, I doubt that I would have been accepted to such an amazing university.

Yours Truly,

I have had the pleasure of knowing Fernando Multedo for the past two years, both as a graduate student in two classes and, most recently, as my teaching assistant in Management Science.  Mr. Multedo exhibits all the essential characteristics and skills which point to future success in whichever field he chooses to enter: he is intelligent, organized, articulate and industrious.

However, unlike other bright students that I have had the pleasure of teaching, Fernando brings a commendable array of additional attributes to the table: a fine sense of self, solid reliability and accountability, a sense of humor and a quick- wittedness, all of which make him one of the most valuable classroom assistants with whom I have ever been associated.

Students who have received his tutelage have remarked about the ease in which he can explain difficult ideas in the most cogent way. He has contributed to the class work by doing extensive outside reading and sharing the most recent research with the class. He stays long after class to work individually with students who are having difficulty. In fact, he has performed all of his teaching functions more than admirably.

As one of the top graduate students in this department, Mr. Multedo comes with my highest of recommendations.

Sincerely,

Jonathan H., Ph.D.

Dear Dr. Multedo,

I am thrilled to be chosen to help you and New Mexico Academy in an administrative way...I believe so in this school.

I, myself, have dreamed of a school of my own for about thirty years. I no longer have to dream. It is here. This is a school that contains more than "my school" ever dreamed of. I have been teaching for over forty years, and I have never felt such joy in teaching day after day. It is due to your many years of instilling the discipline and the academic standards that make my teaching of English such a delight.

How I do wish you come back and accept great honors when all the hard work of you and your wife comes to fruition.

Sincere gratitude for all that you have inspired in me.

I have worked with Fernando Multedo for the past three years, and it has been a pleasure to interact with him in matters of educational importance as a colleague. Dr. Multedo presents himself in a professional manner in every respect and has been an excellent representative of the New Mexico State Department of Education at meetings, conferences, and workshops where I have been in attendance.  Fernando is most helpful to his colleagues and has cooperated in numerous joint efforts within the agency where his expertise in computer skills has been a welcome asset.

In addition to his professional demeanor and skills being invaluable to this agency, Fernando's personal attributes make it easy and pleasant to work with him. He has a great sense of humor, relates well to his colleagues, and is a good listener as well as an articulate speaker. Dr. Multedo is a very dependable and reliable associate, and I always look forward to working with him on any particular project.

Approximately two years ago, Mr. Multedo answered my advertisement for tutors. His credentials where quite impressive. His references stressed that he was knowledgeable, reliable, responsible, hardworking, well liked by his students and respected by his peers.

I have found all of that to be true. He has been an excellent tutor and has served as the chemistry instructor .

Mr. Fernando Multedo is currently teaching at Barnard College Ronald E. McNair Math and Science Project, which is a component of the Science and Technology Entry Program...

As the Coordinator of the Program, I have been able to work closely with Mr. Multedo and observe his dedication and interest in his students. He is currently concentrating on the area of Chemistry and also focusing on basic-skill building. He also develops the curriculum and lessons plans and evaluates his students. He is always willing to assist his students and the program beyond what is required. The students certainly benefit from his instructional expertise.
